Sound the Alarm for Democracy!!
At about this same time five years ago a viral social media trend was beginning, to support the essential workers caring for those suffering and dying from Covid-19 in hospitals around the world. People used the hashtag #solidarityat8 and took a few moments every evening to sing, clap, bang pans, or otherwise offer thanks, in order to honor the selflessness, courage, and sacrifice of those people who were risking their lives.
Now at the suggestion of one of our members, we are drawing attention to an entirely different situation. The Trump Administration and Elon Musk are acting with selfishness, hiding their actions in cowardice, and systematically dismantling the values upon which our country was built. The speed of the destruction has been truly horrific, and we the people are alarmed at the state of our democracy! So Indivisible Wabash Valley has launched the “Sound the Alarm for Democracy” weekly event. Every Monday at 12:05 pm EST, push the panic button on your car alarms, honk your horns, bang a drum, blow a trumpet, sing the Star Spangled Banner, or make noise however you can. The idea is that anyone can participate, no matter where they are, no matter what they are doing.

Those who are able will meet at the Vigo County Annex in Terre Haute, Indiana each week, everyone else, just make noise wherever you are: homes, schools, churches, jobs! We want to let our neighbors, our elected officials, and the rest of the world know that a lot of us are out here, still standing together to protect our democracy, and the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, fought for and defended for 250 years and counting.
JOIN US EVERY MONDAY!!
